With the original “708” cam out of the 96′-99′ GTS no longer available more MOPAR, Roe Racing is proud to introduce the “708R”. This cam is extremely close to the original 708 spec with a just a little more aggressive lift. The new cam like the “708” will direct fit the 92′ – 02′ Vipers and is great for stock as well as modified engines. Couple it with a set of 1.7 roller rockers, pushrods and the same slow bleed lifters used in the 92′-99′ Vipers for another 25+ HP! The camshaft can be changed with the engine in the car. Typically, the cylinder heads will have to be removed so the lifters can be pulled out to change the cam, though strong magnets may be carefully used to hold up the lifters if the heads are left on.
The original “708” cam used in the 1996 GTS engines is the one that produced the big lumpy idle and great power as well as being easy to tune. It is a nice upgrade to install this camshaft in the ’92 – ’96 RT/10 engines (that were 400 HP as opposed to 450 HP) as well as the ’00 – ’02 cars with the “creampuff” cam.
